If you were getting your Name as a .com Domain Name just to protect it, or getting someone else their Domain Name as a gift just to protect it, but it's already taken, it would appear you're too late -- but there are two bright sides.
(1) If it was taken because you have a fairly common name, it's probably a great example why you should consider ordering your spouse's name and/or your kids' names before they're gone too.

(2) If you were getting your Domain Name because you actually wanted to put up a website, or getting someone their Domain Name as a gift so they can put up a website, you still can do exactly that -- you just need to get a little creative. You can do that in one of two ways:
Between changing the endings and/or using a slightly different version of your name, you're bound to find a Domain Name that's still available!
